Sorry...
Sorry...I have a thousand excuses for not blogging lately...I will not list them...so let's continue and I will try to be a better blogger...First and foremost congrats to Rafa for his win over Roger in the French Open Final...tying Borg's record 6 French Open Titles...condolences to Roger who played a great match...I believe the turning point was in the first set when Roger got broken on his serve....also it is my belief that Roger truly believes in his own mind that he cannot ever beat Rafa...even though he always puts up a good fight...oh well on to Wimbledon...as far as the women go...it is anybody's game...there seems to be some parody in the women's ranks...no one dominating player...although Sharapova may be ready to win a major...she played extremely well for someone who has been away from the game for a while...and what about Li Na...the first Chinese woman to win a Grand Slam Title...she is a national hero...she could vie for the Wimbledon title too...as far as the Williams sisters...??????????? time will tell...I don't think their focus is on tennis...more on fashion...if you call it that...wow I'm on a roll...things at the club are going well...the outdoor courts are in great shape...being watered daily(nightly)...we are getting ready for a couple of tournaments at the end of June and the beginning of July...that will be a busy time for me...the indoor courts need a bath so I will be giving them their sponge bath in the near future...well that's it for now...my fingers are bleeding from all this typing...I guess I would never make a good journalist, or reporter...GOOD...I don't want to be one anyway...I like what I am doing now anyway...Clark Kent I am not...so have fun on the court and keep the ball inside the lines...Later

RAIN RAIN GO AWAY...WHAT THE HECK!!!
Is this spring or fall. The only thing missing are the cold temps. Just give it 5 minutes and it will change. I recently attend a Tennis Fest at the Sawmill Club in Mt. Kisco on Sunday. What an event. There were over 750 kids and adults. The event was supposed to be held on thier outdoor courts...15 of them, however it rained the whole day and we had to move to 5 courts indoors...what a zoo, but was lots of fun. On Monday I attended a USPTA Conference. There were a lot of good speakers. I also received an award from the USPTA Eastern Division for being the Major Contributor of 2010 for my volunteer work with the organization. Still trying to figure out what I did... : )) Oh well, I accept it humbly. Thats about it from this end.
Today's words of wisdom are brought to you by ME...if during a point you are driven BACK by your opponent, send a "high roller" (and I dont mean using dice) deep in the court...if you are drawn FORWARD, drive the ball...
See you at the net... I hope...

Sunny Syracuse ???
Well, 4 days in a row of sun and warm temps. YAY !!! Let's keep it coming. Our summer tennis season begins the Sunday the 15th.The outdoor courts are in great shape and we are looking forward to a great summer of tennis with family and friends. I finally got to mow my lawn last weekend. USTA League play is in full swing and the club is still busy throughout the summer months. Even though we lose some indoor play during the summer months, we do have those who would rather play inside. Ok by me...
Choosing a grip size for your racquet shouldn't keep you up at night. The old standard is to measure from the tip of your ring finger of your hitting hand to the second lifeline on your palm, The other way is to hold the racquet with a forehand grip and if you are able to slide your index finger between the grip then you are in the general size you need...HOWEVER...it seems that most people are going to smaller grips because it allows for faster racquet head speed. I for example used to use a 4 5/8 gripsize and have switched to a 4 1/2 and am even considering going to 4 3/8 next year. Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal use 4 1/4. HEY maybe if I use that size I can be like them? Only in my dreams!!! Whatever size you choose, just be careful that it is not too big or too small...you want it to be just like the little child in the Three Bears story...."Just right"!!!
See you at the net, Hopefully...
